ذكرت أن من أهداف المؤتمر، مناقشة:
وضع خارطة الطريق والخطط البحثية لتحقيق هدفها
لتصبح من بين 50 جامعة في التصنيف العالمي بحلول عام 2020م.
وجاءت في رسالة إيميلية النص التالي:
To commemorate the launching and opening of its new Institute of Research Management and Monitoring building, the University of Malaya will be hosting its inaugural UM Researchers' Conference 2012 and cordially invites all members of the community to attend it.
